I designed 14 unique digital signs for Disney's newest and largest cruise ship, the Disney Adventure. The Adventure accommodates around 6,700 guests and 2,500 crew members, making it one of the largest in the world.
Restaurants, retail stores, and activity spaces aboard the ship are themed around familiar Disney stories and characters. Most of them have supporting digital signage to convey key information to guests. I designed each sign according to its theme to keep guests informed and immersed in their environment. The process involved research of historical design styles and Disney IP, concept exploration, iterative refinement, collaboration with Walt Disney Imagineering, and tech development Below are 4 examples.
The Design Process
First Round of Creative
Making Edits
I revisited some sky sequences from the movie and incorporated curved cloud shapes.

One Last Touch of Magic
"There it is, Wendy. Second star to the right and straight on 'til morning."
Final Designs
The final designs blend Victorian elements with a nautical theme. The simple shapes and paper diorama style added a playful, childlike feel.

Final Design
Option #4 was the unanimous choice by peers and my creative director. For the final version I refined the light rays at the top and added some bubbles throughout.
Early Concepts
Concept 1 - fireflies and magnolias
Concept 2 - scenery from the film
Concept 3 - Art Nouveau style, modeled after the physical marquee. Green is in reference to the story's frog characters.
Final Design
Concept #3 was modified to better match the venue's marquee.
